Presidents Day Celebration Shows Ice Castle Images

With cold temperatures for most of the winter, its certain that this year Presidents Day Celebration will show Ice Castle Images like never before. Mayville's unique winter structure, THE ICE CASTLE, brings thousands of visitors each year. It is a highly anticipated event during February in the Chautauqua County New York region in the town of Mayville as workers cut ice blocks from the frozen Chautauqua Lake and gradually build the unique structure each winter. This 2011 winter will be one of the best as the weather has cooperated quite well making the building process easier.

Once the Ice Castle is constructed, lights are put around it making it an awesome sight for visitors. People walk around, take ice castle pictures and admire the construction It is an awesome winter event and Presidents Day Celebration when everything seems slow. It brings several visitors to the area. People who love to snowmobile find it especially enjoyable.

Several events are scheduled during the Ice Castle weekend celebration which always takes place during the long Presidents Day weekend. Youth Hockey, a softball/snowball tournament, a giant kids slide, snowmobile rides a chili off, a bonfire a snowmobile parade and much more. Live entertainment in local area restaurants and bars are always scheduled and a fantastic firework display takes place right over-top of the Ice Castle. Night time Ice Castle images are very popular in the area and are displayed in some of the area businesses.

The Ice Castle Weekend events taking place in Presidents Day Weekend also included a polar swim, a hovercraft water rescue demonstration, horse drawn sleigh rides and a sledding mountain. It's always interesting to see what the designers of the Ice Castle will come up with. Each year it is a little bit different. It usually stays up for just a short amount of time because as soon as the weather gets a little warmer it is important to knock it down so that no injuries occur from It melting and collapsing.
